This class is designed to teach students the important techniques needed in acting, topics include: Auditioning techniques, Intro to Improv, Objectives, Obstacles and Tactics, Character work and scene study.  Students will research, develop, and focus on scene work and eventually begin working on a Play to be presented at a live performance, open to the public. Students will ignite their creative process and be challenged in a safe environment.  By rehearsing a scripted piece, students will be able to create characters and practice what it takes to go from the page to the stage!  Outside rehearsal time will be required.  Every student will receive a role in the show!

Improv ANYWHERE: *NEW*

With the success of our recent Improv in Public Places events this summer, Up In Lights is excited to announce our newest performing troupe and class, Improv Anywhere.  This class will take much of it's direction from the source of our inspiration, Improv Everywhere out of New York City.  Famous for their random Improv events around town including Frozen in Grand Central Station and many pranks on the NYC Subway; this group will be both an instructional class and hands-on training ground for performers.  The class will meet once a week for planning and training with improv outings around town, 2-3 times a month.     Learn to stay in character at all cost.  And when all is said in done, see that letting go can be a ton of fun!
